Landscapes Unlimited names new Mexico, Caribbean operations director

Industry veteran Marvin Cruz has worked on Abaco Club, Aviara, Liberty National and other top courses across the region.

Golf course development and construction company Landscapes Unlimited appointed Marvin Cruz to direct company operations in Mexico and the Caribbean.

Based in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, Cruz will further expand Landscapes Unlimited’s already strong field teams and client base. He is known for helping owners and developers of golf courses, country clubs and resorts chart strategies and plans for new builds and renovations.

Early in his 15-year career in his native Mexico, Cruz was hands-on in constructing every part of a golf course, including cart paths, bunkers, tees, fairways, greens, drainage, finish work and water features, running almost every piece of equipment.  He then managed golf course construction projects — both field work and in-office strategy and planning — designed by Tom Fazio, Robert Trent Jones Jr., Greg Norman, Jack Nicklaus and other A-listers.

Cruz is credited for his exceptional work at Abaco Club, Aviara, Liberty National, Rancho La Quinta, Traditions and other reputable properties in Mexico, the Caribbean, South America and the United States.

“Landscapes Unlimited’s values are extra motivating to team members who deliver high-quality outputs for golf course owners and golfers alike,” Cruz said. “The company is the gold star in its segment — very strategic, organized and attuned to training everyone to become even better professionals.”

Landscapes Unlimited chief development officer Jake Riekstins added that, “With the tremendous growth of golf in Mexico and the Caribbean, the timing is right to bring Marvin on board. Teams revere him for his excellent leadership qualities as do clients for taking them from the planning process to execution with thoughtfulness and precision.”
