The Winnetka Park District and KemperSports announced the re-opening of Winnetka Golf Club on Aug. 12, after the 18-hole and 9-hole golf courses underwent an extensive stormwater management and golf course renovation project over the last 18 months.
Located on Chicagoland’s North Side, the Village of Winnetka, in partnership with the Winnetka Park District and other community partners, completed an extensive stormwater management project that allows the golf course to hold and reuse excess stormwater for irrigation. Along with improvements to the course, this allows the golf course to remain open following large rain events. A newly constructed water feature, continuous cart paths, renovated bunkers and several enhancements to the golf courses are among many highlights of the renovated courses.
“We are excited for our local community members and golfers across Chicagoland to come and see our modernized golf course,” said Shannon Nazzal, executive director of the Winnetka Park District. “For more than 100 years, Winnetka Golf Club has remained a beacon of outstanding public golf on Chicago’s North Shore and this renovation ensures a strong future for the municipal gem.”
In addition to the opening of the 18-hole course on Aug. 12, the driving range, practice facility and clubhouse are currently open. Opening day for the 9-hole, par-3 course will be announced later.
