DeLand, Fla. - Victoria Hills Golf Club, a Ron Garl design, was named to Golfweek's list of "America's Best Residential Golf Courses" for 2006.
Debuting at No. 56 on the top-100 list, Golfweek heralded the course's relationship to the overall community plan, the variety, conditioning and playability of the layout, and how pleasing and interesting the course is as an experience. Victoria Hill's place on the list puts it ahead of residential courses such as Tidewater Golf Club, Lake Nona and Desert Mountain.
The residential ratings are derived directly from Golfweek's annual list of America's Best Courses. America's Best Golf Courses are ranked by more than 350 raters throughout the country, who judge on the basis of 10 evaluation criteria. Rankings are calculated using a statistically rigorous process.
"Golfweek is one of the most recognized and widely read golf publications, and we are honored to be included on this prestigious list," says David Buth, general manager at Victoria Hills. "With the sheer number of residential courses in the U.S. and the other outstanding courses that are ranked, it's exciting that Victoria Hills debuted at No. 56."
The course features more than 50 feet of elevation change, taking advantage of the area's natural rolling hills, foliage and wetlands. Tall pines and majestic oaks frame the course while sandy waste areas and pristine lakes make for inspiring sight lines.
