Troon has been selected to manage the University Club of Kentucky, a 36-hole facility in Lexington. Indigo Sports, a Troon company, will oversee golf operations, agronomy, food and beverage, retail, and sales and marketing.
Open since 1992, the University Club of Kentucky is the official home of the University of Kentucky men’s and women’s golf teams. The Arthur Hills Golf-designed Big Blue Course is an 18-hole, par-72 championship layout that stretches to 7,013 yards. Rolling across Kentucky countryside, the course features bentgrass from tee to green. The Wildcat Course plays to 6,680 yards and a par of 71. While shorter in length than Big Blue, Wildcat features more of a parkland setting that rolls through trees and along creeks and ponds. This course also features beautiful bunkering and green complexes that require precision upon approach.
“We are thrilled to begin our partnership with Troon, an innovative company with the expertise needed to expand the facility’s potential,” University Club of Kentucky owner Danny McQueen said. “We have worked hard over the years to create a premier golf destination and look forward to Troon’s leadership to further enhance the golf courses and overall operations.”
“Our team is honored to work with the University Club of Kentucky, a first-class facility that shares our keen attention to quality and outstanding customer service,” Troon operations VP Nick Bednar said. “We look forward to building on U-Club’s strong reputation in the market and creating memorable experiences for generations of golfers to come.”
