Turfco has unveiled the larger-capacity, midsized CR-8 Topdresser. The CR-8 Topdresser is designed for tow-behind use with minimum 30-hp tractors.. As the next-generation addition to the company’s lineup of midsized topdressers, the CR-8 comes equipped with a 2-cubic-yard capacity, self-cleaning, galvanized steel hopper and patented Turfco WideSpin technology for precision-controlled edge-to-edge spread, light to heavy and wet or dry, up to 45-feet in width.
The CR-8 was designed with versatility and productivity in mind, beneficial during these days of reduced crew sizes because of COVID-19. It can handle almost any type of topdressing material, including lime, sand, wood chips, compost, stones, soil conditioners and grass clippings. The three-position hand-held switch allows users to start attachments before turning on the conveyor belt, assuring clean application starts every time. The features can potentially help superintendents get more work done while faced with having to work with a smaller crew.
“Customers tell us they want a greater choice in the midsize topdresser range, with both larger material capacity and more extensive spread width to move up in class, but not up to the more costly heavy duty range,” Turfco Manufacturing executive vice president Scott Kinkead said. “The CR-8 is ideally suited for general topdressing applications and turf renovation projects at sports field complexes and golf courses.”
The CR-8 rolls on a four-wheel drive, walking high beam suspension system that minimizes the impact of the 12-foot long, 1,421-pound (empty weight) machine on the ground. The adjustable spinner angle allows operators to drive material firmly into the turf canopy, eliminating variations in moisture control and minimizing the need for brushing.
A patented three-position, hand-held control switch enables operators to start up the spinner in advance of the conveyor belt, assuring a clean start to every application. Operators also control hydraulic speed settings manually with the same switch, allowing for on-the-go flow control adjustments.
The CR-8 derives power from the tractor’s hydraulic systems, which powers the material conveyor belt – consisting of heavy-duty polyester cord – and any attachments such as the optional Turfco Material Handler Conveyor with Swivel for close-in operations. Turfco backs the CR-8 Topdresser with a three-year warranty covering both parts and labor.
Turfco is now offering online demonstrations of the CR-8 – and other products – to help with social distancing. Call 1-800-679-8201 or CLICK HERE to schedule an online demo.
