Troon expands into Canada

Newmark Group, a real estate development and construction company based in Canada, has announced that Troon has been selected to manage Sagebrush Golf Club in British Columbia. Sagebrush becomes Troon’s first managed property in Canada, expanding the company’s global portfolio to include 30 countries.

Set on 400 acres overlooking Nicola Lake, Sagebrush Golf Club opened in 2009 to rave reviews. The links-style course earned highly coveted accolades including “Best New Course in Canada” by both Golf Digest and SCOREGolf. It was later named No. 3 “Best Modern Course in Canada” (built since 1960) by Golfweek in 2012 and in 2014, Golf Digest named it No. 85 in the “Top 100 Best Courses Outside the U.S.”

Newmark Group purchased Sagebrush on Nov. 1, 2015 and quickly demonstrated its commitment to maximizing Sagebrush’s potential by recently naming James Cronk, a highly regarded Canadian golf industry executive, as president of Newmark Golf Group. Newmark Group also engaged the award-winning Vancouver design firm SSDG Interiors to renovate the Badlands Clubhouse, which is now underway.

Sagebrush will re-open the golf course in the spring of 2016. Numerous other enhancements are planned and will be featured in several phases.
