The Fort Club in Ninety Six, South Carolina, unveiled its rebranded and redesigned semi-private golf club following an extensive renovation on its back nine.

Originally designed by George Cobb in the late 1960s, Colton Craig and Tom Coyne of Craig + Coyne guided the architectural work, with Landscapes Unlimited serving as the builder and superintendent John Franklin leading the agronomic efforts. The project completed the initial phase of the club’s master plan.

The reopening of the course, which is now owned by Shane Birckbichler and Jeremy Revis, coincided with the 2024 Masters Tournament. The Fort Club is 60 miles from Augusta, Georgia, and 70 miles from Columbia, South Carolina.

“We were attracted to this opportunity because of our belief that the golf course was a hidden gem,” Birckbichler said. “This initial capital project turned an already good course into a great course, with more improvements to come.”

Revis added: “This redesign enhances the playing experience, transforming The Fort Club into a destination that beckons golfers from outside the local market.”

The reopening is complemented by the appointment of Jeff Evatt as the director of golf. Evatt will manage golf operations alongside Logan Pope, the club’s head pro who grew up playing at the course.

“I’m honored to lead this club into an exciting future, ensuring that we offer a unique and enjoyable golfing experience,” Evatt said.
