Syngenta's Dave Ravel addresses superintendents commonly asked questions about Early Order Programs.

Purchasing season is upon us and Syngenta's Dave Ravel, head of sales for turf, ornamental and PPM in North America, addresses a few of the common questions many turf managers have about early order purchasing.

What advantages does EOP offer the golf course superintendent?

Superintendents work hard to balance their budget while optimizing conditions on their course. Our early order program offers the best opportunity to maximize savings on products they can trust to deliver optimal conditions. It is also a great time for superintendents to sit down with their local Syngenta Channel Partner or Syngenta Territory Manager to review last year’s plan, performance, and budget, and adjust as needed.  Committing early is the best way to stretch the budget and take their course to the next level.  Once they lock in their savings during EOP, they will earn that same rebate on all purchases during the season. GreenTrust Reward points can only be earned during early order. This year we have added some significant Bonus Brand Points that add up to an additional 70,000 points.

What is the advantage for the product manufacturer?
The Early Order Program helps Syngenta to ensure supply of our key brands.  There is so much more than the active ingredient that goes in to the package.  Ensuring we have the inert, packaging and having the product in the right place at the right time is key to success for the superintendent.  By committing early, it gives the manufacturer the opportunity to provide the product when it is needed.

How can Supers get the most out of their EOP?
To make the most of the Early Order Program, Syngenta has built many tools to help the superintendent navigate their purchasing process.  Three key areas are the pallet and Multipack offers, timing of the purchases as well as the program calculators that Syngenta provides.

  • Pallet offers provide savings of up to an additional 23% off in addition to rebates, and GreenTrust Reward Points. They are comprised of a collection of complimentary products for the superintendent on one convenient pallet.  Early Order is the only time we are able to offer pallets.  Multipacks are two key brands packaged in one box that complement each other as a tank mix or alternative application.  Once again, purchased in this combination provides the superintendent with the best value.
  • GreenTrust Reward points are earned for every dollar spent from October – December 7th.  October is the best time to commit as every dollar spent earns triple points that first month.  Also, to help superintendents keep cash flow in check, Syngenta also provides Summer Pay Terms for all agency products through June 28th. This  ensures superintendents can maximize their savings without taking the financial risk of paying early.
  • Lastly, Syngenta provides calculators that can help a superintendent make the decision process much easier.  The prior year usage of products can be easily added to the calculator, the system will then place the products in the best configuration to make the most of the Syngenta offer.  The calculator also has the ability to allow the superintendent to input a Syngenta Agronomic Program that fits their course. It will calculate the total purchase and will build the best rebate structure from the offer.  These calculators can be saved for future use, emailed to their Syngenta sales rep or channel partner, and saved for reference at later time.
