Syngenta announces GIS events

Launch of Divanem nematicide, 5K run sponsored by Heritage Action part of activities in Orlando.


Syngenta has announced its lineup of activities for the 2017 Golf Industry Show Feb. 4-9 in Orlando.

“We are excited to have more going on at the show than ever before,” said Stephanie Schwenke, turf market manager at Syngenta. “We look forward to announcing our new innovations and sponsorships, like the GCSAA Health in Action 5K that will benefit the Environmental Institute for Golf (EIFG), as well as celebrating the industry with our partners, peers and customers in Orlando.”

Below is an overview of all the Syngenta happenings at GIS 2017:

Opening night ceremony and celebration
Tuesday, Feb. 7, 5:15-6:45 p.m., Valencia Ballroom
Join Syngenta and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America to honor distinguished individuals, including the Class of 2016, the recipient of the Old Tom Morris Award and the Environmental Leaders in Golf Awards. Jeff Cox, global head of Syngenta Lawn & Garden, will provide a special introduction for the event. Stick around from 7-8:30 p.m. for a reception at Harry's Poolside at Rosen Centre to mix and mingle with industry professionals from across the country, while enjoying complimentary appetizers and cocktails.

Stop by the Syngenta booth to learn more about Divanem, a nematicide that delivers excellent turf quality through proven, broad-spectrum control of nematodes on all turf types found on golf course tees, greens and fairways. Don’t miss the nematicide trial plot that can be toured at the Orange County National Golf Center during the GCSAA Golf Championship.

While on the tradeshow floor, learn more about Divanem, the newest nematicide innovation from Syngenta. This engaging 30-45 minute discussion will be led by industry experts Lane Tredway, Ph.D., from Syngenta and Billy Crow, Ph.D., from the University of Florida.

Attendees can test their turf knowledge by playing the Syngenta in-booth trivia challenge. Syngenta will donate $10 to the Wee One Foundation for the first 500 people who play, and the top scorer each day will win a YETI Hopper™ 30 cooler. Everyone who plays will be entered for a chance to win one of 10 random drawings for a YETI Rambler 36-ounce tumbler.

GCSAA Health in Action 5K sponsored by Heritage Action
Thursday, Feb. 9, 6 a.m., starting at the Hyatt Regency Orlando hotel
Get up and get your body started in this 5K fun run, hosted by the GCSAA and sponsored by Heritage Action. You can register online as part of the GIS registration, and all registration proceeds will benefit the EIFG. Show us how you perform and recover on social media using #TurfInAction.

GCSAA certification luncheon
Wednesday, Feb. 8, 12:30-2 p.m., location TBA
Syngenta and the GCSAA will recognize the Class of 2016’s newly Certified Golf Course Superintendents at a special luncheon event, as well as provide special acknowledgement of 25-and 40-year CGCSs in attendance.
