Syngenta is expanding its Digital Platforms team in an effort to strengthen the support and development of its digital platform, including Spiio soil sensor technology.

The Digital Platforms team recently grew from five to eight members. The additional expertise and talent will advance Syngenta capabilities with a focus on refining user experience, expanding functionality and optimizing the integration of Spiio soil sensor data and enhanced weather insights.

The Spiio soil sensor, designed to capture crucial soil metrics including moisture, temperature, salinity and light, serves as a cornerstone of Syngenta Digital Platforms. It displays the data from the soil sensor and integrates advanced weather data, which has recently been enhanced to include more precise forecasting and predictive modelling capabilities.

“Our growing team is a testament to our dedication to innovation and excellence in digital turf management,” SDP head Steve Dorer said. “The team expansion will enable us to further elevate the support and functionality of our digital platform, ensuring that it continues to empower the turf industry with actionable insights and predictive analytics.”

Sally Jones, digital platforms technical specialist, joins the team with more than 20 years of experience as a golf course superintendent and eight years as general manager of Benson Golf Club in Benson, Minnesota. Her extensive background includes practical technical expertise in software and hardware use within the golf course environment. She graduated from Penn State with a bachelor of science in turfgrass science. Based in Benson, Jones will provide technical training and support to Digital Platforms customers.

Noel Popoli, digital platforms sales specialist Northeast, has eight years of golf course management experience, notably as assistant superintendent at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, where she contributed to the renovation of the Lake Course. She also held previous roles at clubs in New York, Connecticut and Germany. Popoli graduated from Connecticut with a bachelor of science in turfgrass and soil science. She is based in North Salem, New York, and will concentrate on cultivating Digital Platforms customer relationships in the Northeast United States.

Andrew Fike, digital platforms sales specialist Southeast, brings 18 years of extensive experience in golf course management, most recently as director of agronomy at The Club at Ibis in West Palm Beach, Florida. He also held previous roles at the Atlanta Athletic Club, PGA National, Muirfield Village Golf Club and the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club. Fike is a graduate of Ohio State with a degree in turfgrass management.
