For many golf course superintendents in the central and northern climates now is the time of the year when the seasons change. Typically grasses are no longer under stress and in some cases will soon be under snow. So as the snowbirds head for warmer winter locales we can see a reduction in forces on our golf courses and a time for planning for the next golfing season in spring of 2017.
No better time than the present to reflect back on the year in review. There is always room for improvement.
Therefore, I offer you the following areas for a deep performance analysis:
• Staff
• Training
• Equipment
• Standards
• Safety
• Budget
• Capital projects
• Self-Improvement
This should be a never ending process throughout your career. Make a list of your goals for 2017 and then see how many of them you accomplished. As you grow so too will your success in the industry.
