La Réserve Golf Links at Heritage Golf Club in Bel Ombre, Mauritius, is almost open. Louis Oosthuizen, who won the 2010 Open at St Andrews and designed the course with golf course architect Peter Matkovich, will be among the first to play it ahead of the DP World Tour/Sunshine Tour AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, December 14-17.

Oosthuizen worked with Matkovich the Indian Ocean’s first contemporary links course alongside. The pair used the natural landscape and dramatic elevations to define each hole.

“My love of links, the purest form of golf, will be experienced on every hole at La Réserve Golf Links,” Oosthuizen said. “I have a genuine passion for links golf and the way in which you have to strategically work your way around a golf course using a multitude of different shots. Links golf challenges your mind and your game, and that is why La Réserve Golf Links is such a wonderful project to be at the heart of.”

Inspired by the wild open spaces of the great seaside links, La Réserve, a GEO-Certified development, is situated alongside a UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve.

Matkovich will be among those in attendance at an official opening event Dec. 1 for guests, members, residents and special VIPs.
