John Deere and First Tee named a trio of 2020 Power for Good contest winners for their efforts to do good in their local communities.
The winners, Luke Boldt of Bolivia, North Carolina; Vivian Guite of Naples, Florida; and Kayla Tounalom of Seattle, Washington were selected from a national pool of applicants across the First Tee network based on a written essay focusing on the positive impact they have made in their local communities.
“We are honored to work with First Tee each year to celebrate its participants who are doing great things in their communities,” said Manny Gan, director global golf sales & marketing for John Deere. “The 2020 contest winners embody what it means to be a ‘Power for Good.’ Luke, Vivian and Kayla are an inspiration to their local communities, as well as the golf industry, and we are excited to celebrate their achievements.”
To reward the winners for their service in their communities, schools and neighborhoods, John Deere will host the students at the 2021 John Deere Classic for a special VIP Experience. They will also have an opportunity to play in the John Deere Classic Pro-Am, and serve as a Power for Good at a local volunteer event. Additionally, each winner will receive a financial contribution toward their higher education.
The ‘Power for Good’ competition recognizes young men and women in the First Tee program who have a passion for improving their local communities. It also serves to inspire younger First Tee participants on the merits of hard work and determination. Winners are selected for demonstrating their commitment to service and leadership through a written essay, which includes a summary of the impact of their efforts and how their work is connected to the values learned through First Tee.
John Deere has served as a Trustee partner since 2012 and has recognized 12 deserving applicants the Power for Good contest launched in 2017.
