Innisbrook Resort renovating North Course

Salamander Hotels & Resorts has announced an immediate renovation of the surfaces on all 18 greens of the North Course at Innisbrook Resort. The process began June 5 using a no-till method of turf replacement, resulting in a firmer, more consistent playing surface. The greens will be planted with TifEagle Bermudagrass – the same variety PGA TOUR professionals enjoyed in this year’s Valspar Championship on Innisbrook’s Copperhead Course. Referred to as “Little Copperhead” because of the similarities in terrain, the North Course is expected to reopen in early October, 2017.

The renovation project will also include conditioning of the bunkers, general maintenance and clearing of all storm canals, and trimming and pruning to reduce shading and create access to the greens as originally designed by Larry Packard. The size of the greens will also be expanded where shrinkage has occurred over the years, allowing for additional pin placements. The North Course is one of four championship golf courses at the resort, including the Copperhead Course, which hosts the Valspar Championship. The Copperhead Course underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2015. The project included a regrassing of all fairways and rough, the rebuilding of each green, and reshaping of the bunkers.
