President and CEO Richard Hunter made the donation on behalf of Hunter Industries, Saturday, Feb. 14 at GCSAA's 75th International Golf Course Conference and Show in San Diego.
"The Institute is a vital part of our industry's efforts to strengthen the compatibility of golf with the natural environment, " Hunter said. "We are privileged to be a partner with The Institute in this initiative."
Hunter also pledged $50,000 to The Institute last year.
Hunter is a supporter at the Platinum Tee Club level of donors, who contribute $5,000 or more annually to The Institute, as well as being a member of The Institute's Governor's Club for donating between $50,000 - $99,000 since 1987. The company is also a donor to The Institute's Silent Auction.
"We are very appreciative of Hunter Industries' support of The Institute," said GCSAA CEO Steve Mona, CAE. "The advancements in course conditioning are made possible in part by the support and contributions we receive from our industry partners."
The Environmental Institute for Golf, the philanthropic organization of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), is a collaborative effort of the environmental and golf communities, dedicated to strengthening the compatibility of golf with the natural environment. In January 2003, The Institute evolved from The GCSAA Foundation, originally established in 1955, with a new name, mission and focus. The Institute concentrates on delivering programs and services involving research, education and outreach that communicate the best management practices of environmental stewardship on the golf course.
