
Howard Fertilizer and Chemical Company has hired Jonathan Smith as business development manager. Smith will be responsible for driving company growth in all sectors throughout the Southeast.
Smith possesses more than 20 years of experience in business development, marketing and sales management in the turf and agricultural chemical marketplace. He began his career at BASF, rising through the ranks to the position of senior business representative II/innovation specialist II. Smith then served as market development manager for Bayer and later held management positions with smaller businesses in the industry while leading and guiding sales teams to success.
“Jonathan brings a wealth of industry expertise to Howard Fertilizer that will serve the company well as we continue to expand our market reach,” said Robert Howard, Howard Fertilizer and Chemical Company founder and CEO. “His proven performance and experience with large corporations and small business alike provide him with a unique perspective. This will prove invaluable in his new role as our business development manager.”
Smith holds a pair of degrees from Mississippi State University: a bachelor’s degree in agricultural information science and experimental statistics with a specialization in forestry management, and a master’s degree in agricultural information science with a specialization in business management. He also earned an associate degree in forestry technology from East Mississippi Community College.
