On August 1, 1941, Ormond and Lucile Harrell first opened for business on the corner of Pine Street and Florida Avenue in Lakeland, Fla. With their feed store, the young couple aspired to provide quality products and friendly, personal service. Seventy-five years later, Harrell’s leadership maintains the same aspirations.
With 18 locations and 320 employees across the United States, third-generation owner Jack Harrell, Jr. and his team have grown the privately held, family-owned company to 10,000 customers. Products are sold all across the United States, the Caribbean, Central and South America, the Middle East and along the Pacific Rim through sales representatives providing personal service in local communities.
Today, Harrell’s produces top-quality liquid and granular fertilizers, specialty liquids and soil surfactants for professional use in the turf, ornamental and specialty agriculture markets. They are also one of the nation’s largest distributors of branded plant protectants and the exclusive U.S. distributor of POLYON controlled-release fertilizer, an enhanced efficiency fertilizer.
Harrell’s two sons, Jack Harrell, III and Will Harrell, are also involved in the Lakeland-based company. After holding positions in operations, sales and business development, Jack III is now director of inventory and business development, while Will manages corporate compliance and government affairs.
Four generations later, Harrell’s continues to aspire to "Grow A Better World" through excellence in service, integrity and value. Growth and success aside, the Harrell’s family remains focused on its mission to:
• Serve, honor and glorify God.
• Create an environment to empower and invest in our employees.
• Provide consistent quality products and service through innovative solutions.
• Create and grow loyal relationships through trust and integrity.
• Sustain growth through planned expansion.
