What more could a turfhead want when visiting San Antonio? 

GCI is preparing to two-step its way into Texas with a variety of events designed to enhance the 2018 Golf Industry Show experience. 

Our base Feb. 7-8 will be booth #9082 inside the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Visitors can interact with GCI editors and personalities, offer story ideas, subscribe to the magazine, and obtain copies of the popular State of the Industry and Turfheads Take Over issues. A limited number of special sections commemorating our “When the creek rises” series documenting the historic southern West Virginia floods and inspiring recovery at The Greenbrier will also be available. 

The booth is a Facebook-, Twitter- and selfie-friendly zone, although the social media highlight begins at 3 p.m. Wednesday, 7 with the presentation of the seventh annual Super Social Media Awards at #GCITweetUp18. A Happy Hour featuring free drinks and live music proceeds the ceremonies at 2 p.m. Aquatrols booth #5097 is the site of the festivities. For those who can’t make it to San Antonio, use #GCITweetUp18 to follow along. 

Once again, regular GCI contributors will be heavily involved in the GCSAA Education Conference at GIS. 
Brian Vinchesi is leading the “Golf Irrigation Auditor” seminar from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 5. Vinchesi, the founder of Massachusetts-based Irrigation Consulting Inc., writes the monthly water-focused column “Irrigation Issues.”

Bruce Williams is co-leading the “Strategies for the Effective Superintendent – Winning the Annual Review and Successful Negotiating Tactics” seminar with Northmoor (Ill.) Country Club superintendent Tommy Witt from 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 6 and the “Hire, Manage and Develop Your Team” seminar with retired superintendent Roger Stewart from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 6. 
Williams is a senior contributing editor and wrote GCI’s November 2017 cover story.

Henry DeLozier is co-leading “The Business of Golf – A Superintendent’s Guide” seminar with his Global Golf Advisors Partner Steven Johnston from 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 5. DeLozier writes the monthly “Game Plan” column.  

Tim Moraghan is co-leading the “Event Management and Golf Course Preparation” seminar with NC State’s Dr. Fred Yelverton and 2018 Ryder Cup host superintendent Alejandro Reyes of Le Golf National, from 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 6. Moraghan, the founder of ASPIRE Golf, writes the monthly “Outside the Ropes” column.

Anthony Williams is leading the “Initiating BMPs for Success” seminar from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 6 and co-leading the “Hire Smart: Interview and Recruit for Success” seminar with Carol Rau and Patrick Franklin from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 8. Williams is the director golf course maintenance and landscaping at the Four Seasons Resort Club Dallas at Las Colinas in Irving, Texas, and wrote GCI’s September 2017 cover story.
