McCord Golf Services and Safety announced that the company’s complete library of 12 golf course maintenance safety training videos is now available in both Spanish and English.
Developed by Mickey McCord, a certified golf course superintendent with more than 25 years of industry experience, the videos give superintendents and others involved in the management of turf and grounds personnel a simple and economical way to educate crew members on workplace safety.
“Having all of our videos available in Spanish and English is key to our efforts of enabling safety training and compliance at golf courses across the country,” McCord said. “We are pleased to have reached this goal.”
The safety videos currently available address topics such as hazard communication – including required training for the new OSHA Globally Harmonized System and label and MSDS/SDS changes – proper chainsaw use, hearing and eye protection, appropriate lifting techniques, safe mower operation, fire prevention and others. The website-based videos range in length from 10 to 18 minutes and can be used at staff meetings, to educate new hires, on rainy days or incorporated into an employee incentive program.
“Workplace safety training is important in all industries, but especially for golf course maintenance crew members who work with power tools, large mowers and pesticides in all types of environmental conditions,” McCord said. “Training and education help protect workers and can also increase productivity, reduce expenses and promote a positive culture within the crew.”
