I would be remiss if I let another installment go by without mentioning golf’s governing body, the USGA. The Green Section has helped thousands of Golf Course Superintendents over the years by providing timely research, reports, rulings and visits-all with the intent of helping us to provide better golf courses for golfers, not to mention helping to make our lives easier.
As you may have noticed our Super Blog of the Month by Neil Radatz, CGCS of Hawks Landing Golf Club in Verona, Wisc., marries his excellent and informative blogwith bits and pieces from the USGA Green Section. Continuing with our USGA theme this week, Brooks Mosley, Golf Course Superintendent of Chateau Golf and Country Club in Kenner, La., just outside of New Orleans, has a new blog about the clubs’ maintenance issues. He leads off with a great YouTube clip from the USGA that explains the frost delay issue very well.
Those of you still dealing with frost delays this time of year will do well to share it with your members/guests if you can. Those golfers that actually pay attention may cut you some slack the next time you tell them it’s best for the course if they wait a whole HALF-HOUR before they can tee it up. Sheesh!
Those unsung turf equipment technicians are at it again. In case you missed the announcement the IGCEMA will be putting together their second Virtual Trade Show (VTS) on March 23rd through March 25th. According to the IGCEMA_RSS_FEED, “The virtual trade show is a three-day, live, online event for suppliers, dealers and customers to gather for meaningful business development and relationship building.” The way I see it, if you missed the GIS, then you need to check out the VTS!
The ‘Casual Arm’ of the IGCEMA, GolfTECHS.net invites you to celebrate with them and their upcoming milestone: BBQ #100! Nothing goes better with tech-talk like a char-broiled e-burger and icy cold e-beer. Turf Equipment Technicians from around the world have come to rely on the camaraderie generated by these bi-weekly e-gatherings.
