The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek in Johns Island, S.C., announced a two-year, $6-million plan for upgrades and renovations to the club’s golf course and facilities. The private golf club is majority-owned by McNair Interests, a private investment and management company founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist Robert C. “Bob” McNair, who passed away in November 2018.
Cary McNair, Bob’s son and the current chairman and CEO of McNair Interests, announced the club is making the multi-million-dollar investment, which includes the grand opening of the Robert C. McNair Performance Center, the addition of three on-site guest cottages and a total renovation of the club’s golf course.
“The planned upgrades and renovations to the course and facilities will elevate the club to a new level that reflects the promise to continue my father’s vision for a club he cared for deeply,” Cary McNair said. “With these improvements, we hope to solidify Briar’s Creek’s commitment to excellence for its members.”
In 2015, club member Bob McNair led an investment group in the purchase of Briar’s Creek. Since then, the club has welcomed more than 100 new members and enjoys a current membership roster that allows for the club to maintain its highly regarded no-tee-time policy.
The new Performance Center will be unveiled June 2019, while cottage construction and course renovation will take place in spring and summer of 2020, respectively.
