Bayer expands Green Solutions Team

Dr. Paul Giordano will serve customers in the Northeast.

Environmental Science, a business unit of the Crop Science division of Bayer, announced Paul Giordano, Ph.D., is joining the Bayer Green Solutions Team, serving customers in the Northeast as part of the group’s expanding commitment to healthy turf. In this role, Giordano will help Bayer customers ensure success while supporting the broader industry through scientific thought leadership, education and training.

“Bayer is dedicated not only to providing best-in-class innovations, but also to offering the technical knowledge and agronomic expertise that help turf managers maximize the health and quality of their turf,” said Laurence Mudge, Bayer Green Solutions Team manager. “Paul’s expertise and proven technical skills will be a welcome and invaluable asset to Bayer customers.”

The Bayer Green Solutions Team translates innovative research into practical, real-world solutions for managing tough turfgrass pests and stress and helps look for new ways to manage the challenges that turf managers face. An integral part of the Bayer mission of Science for a Better Life, the Bayer Green Solutions Team offers holistic agronomic advice for healthy turf.

Giordano joined the Bayer team in 2014, serving as technical services representative for Bayer Environmental Science Canada. In that role, Giordano was responsible for coordination and execution of research trials across business segments, competitive surveillance and innovation consultation. He also helped support business efforts by maintaining strong relationships with industry influencers and global researchers.

He is a member of several industry organizations, including the Ontario Turfgrass Research Foundation (Board of Directors), United States Golf Association, Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America and Soil Science Society of America. He has a doctorate in plant, soil and microbial sciences (2014), a master of science in plant pathology and a bachelor of science in crop and soil sciences from Michigan State University. Giordano has given more than 150 presentations in the past three years and is the author of more than 30 peer-reviewed, magazine and other technical articles in various turfgrass industry publications.

In addition to the Northeast, Giordano will cover Michigan and parts of northern Ohio.
