AQUA•AID Solutions announced the launch of a new mentorship program. The program will offer recent turfgrass program graduates the opportunity to experience various career paths in the turfgrass industry.

Emma Seward, a recent graduate of Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in turfgrass management and science, joined the AQUA•AID Solutions team June 1 through the mentorship program serving as a research associate.

Seward will be working in all aspects of AQUA•AID Solutions’ business platform as well as observing distribution partners business models. She will be working with the PGA and LPGA Tours, shadowing the agronomy, operations and ShotLink operations at various events. Seward will join AHG Design and McDonald and Son Golf Construction during the renovation project at Interlachen Country Club in Edina, Minnesota. Seward was first introduced to AQUA•AID Solutions during her time at Purdue and her involvement with the Purdue Turf Bowl Team.

“We are trying to give back to the turfgrass industry by giving young people a chance to see the world of opportunity in turf management,” AQUA-AID Solutions President Sam Green said. “While in school most people have the opportunity to do internships in a specific field. Our mentorship program will allow them the opportunity to see many different aspects in short stints to further their vision and knowledge of what’s out there. Our goal with Emma is after seven months she will desire to accept a full-time position with us. She’s a bright individual who has a great future in our industry.”

Seward added: “AQUA•AID Solutions has given me a terrific opportunity to have the ability to continue to explore the turf industry after graduation and I fully intend to take full advantage to learn everything I possibly can. I really was drawn to the industry because it allowed me to combine science with my love for the outdoors. At Purdue, I was able to be involved with our turf bowl teams, attend many conferences, assist in research, and volunteer at a tournament.

“You spend so much of your time in school learning about the science and do not have as much time to learn what is all available and this allows me to get the chance to see parts of the industry most of my peers will never get the chance to see. I have already learned a lot and looking forward to learning more and am very appreciative that Sam and the whole AQUA•AID Solutions team have given me the opportunity to explore and find what I am really interested in, which will allow me to excel further down the road.”
