Standard Golf has announced its Putt-saver Tournament Flagstick is officially permitted under the Rules of Golf.
"As with all of our products, we manufacture based on the Rules of Golf as provided by the USGA and R&A," Standard Golf director of marketing, Matt Pauli said. "With the rule about leaving a flagstick in the cup while putting being new in 2019, and with our flagstick a little more narrow than previous flagsticks, the USGA wanted to take a closer look at both our flagstick and their written rules for equipment and specifically flagsticks. It is great to learn, as we anticipated, that our Putt-saver Tournament Flagstick does indeed meet the requirements for the Rules of Golf."
This new flagstick has two unique characteristics. First, the tapered flagstick is just 3/8" in diameter from the ferrule to a point 3 1/2 inches above the ground. Common flagsticks are 1/2" in diameter. The stick then tapers out to 7/8" before narrowing back to 3/8". Secondly, this stick is two pieces. A 1/4" inch steel rod is over molded in plastic making the product shorter when shipped and thus avoiding any shipping surcharges.
This flagstick is available in several color patterns: white, yellow, white/black, white/red and yellow/black. Shipping is expected to begin June 1, 2019.
