The Ohio Turfgrass Foundation announced it has signed an agreement with The Ohio State University to strengthen the future of Ohio’s turfgrass industry indefinitely.
Under the agreement, OTF will contribute $100,000 over a five-year period into a fund managed by the university. Ohio State will then match OTF’s contribution to the fund. The result will provide students at Ohio State campuses studying turfgrass science nearly $10,000 in scholarships on an annual basis, perpetually, in addition to the traditional scholarships that OTF provides.
“This partnership will provide students studying turfgrass sciences with even more resources to be successful,” OTF President Ryan DeMay said. “This program will increase and enhance OTF’s annual contributions to the OSU Turfgrass Program. We appreciate Ohio State working with OTF to make this happen.”
This past fiscal year, OTF contributions to OSU’s Turfgrass Program and student scholarships topped more than $60,000, raising the overall total OTF and the Ohio Turfgrass Research Trust have historically contributed in donations and scholarships to nearly $4 million.
