For the last year golf course superintendents and their crews have been charged with providing a superior playing experience with fewer resources.
In many cases "doing more with less," went from being a cliché phrase to becoming nearly every superintendent’s mantra.
To meet this challenge many of you began to think outside of the box and realize the benefits of progressive thinking and innovation. As a result, not only were course standards maintained, but in many cases players and members gained a greater appreciation for what goes into taking care of the courses they love to play.
Golf Course Industry wanted to highlight some of these superintendents and the processes and systems they use to do things a bit differently.
Some of these may be "eureka" ideas, while other concepts may be duplicated by other superintendents at golf courses throughout the country.
Our goal in this endeavor is to illustrate, in their own words, those professionals who have found success through trying something new. And as a result, these individuals not only improved how they do their jobs, but in many cases, they have brought about greater awareness of what it takes to produce an excellent experience on a regular basis. – Mike Zawacki, editor
