Rosewood CordeValle in San Martin, Calif., has appointed two new members to the resort’s esteemed golf program. Lloyd Martindale has joined as director of golf and Brett Thornsbury as golf course superintendent.
In his role as director of golf, Martindale will oversee operations on the property’s course and manage all aspects of the resort’s golf-related activities, classes and promotions. As superintendent, Thornsbury will be responsible for maintaining the turf quality of the resort’s 18-hole golf course and improving its five-star playing experience.

A New Mexico native, Thornsbury previously served as the assistant superintendent at Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach, Calif., which is consistently ranked as one of the top courses in the world. Thornsbury holds a B.S. in agriculture-turfgrass management & science from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M.
Martindale joins Rosewood CordeValle from Fancourt in Blanco George, South Africa, where he served as general manager for the property’s three golf courses: The Links, Montagu and Outeniqua. Prior to working at Fancourt, Martindale developed new programming and supervised staff as the general manager of George Golf Course on the coast of Mossel Bay.
