Troon has been selected to manage The Golf Club at Southwind in Garden City, Kan. Established in 1980 as a private club, The Golf Club at Southwind will be managed by Troon Privé, the private club operating division of Troon.
Located on the High Plains of Western Kansas, The Golf Club at Southwind’s 18-hole, Donald Sechrest-designed course is considered among the top courses in the state. The course has hosted multiple Kansas State Amateurs as well as the annual Southwest Kansas Pro-Am. The par 71, 6,935-yard course flows through the rolling sand hills, with golf holes framed by tall native grasses.
“The Golf Club at Southwind is a visually stunning course, the contrast of the green fairways bordered by the auburn-colored native grass is striking,” said Jim Bellington, senior vice president, operations, Troon. “Our Troon Privé team will now look to further advance Southwind’s service levels, agronomy standards and overall club operations.”
“We are excited to enter into this partnership with Troon,” said Craig Boomhower, owner, The Golf Club at Southwind. “We contacted a number of other private clubs around the country that have had incredible success working with Troon. In addition to Troon’s expertise in private club marketing, golf and dining operations, Southwind members are now eligible to participate in the Troon Privé Privilege program which gives our members access to other Troon-managed private clubs around the world. We look forward to reaping the benefits of their experience in operating private clubs.”
The Troon Privé Division currently manages nearly 70 private clubs, half of which are member owned.
